#HygieneConnect: Bridging Hygiene and Safety in the Food Industry

A Holistic Approach to Hygiene

#HygieneConnect serves as a platform for knowledge exchange and the exploration of best practices within the food and beverage sector. The event series emphasizes the importance of harmonizing various elements—such as hygienic flooring, drainage systems, cleaning procedures, and microbiological risk management—to create a seamless hygienic environment in industrial food processing facilities.

Through a detailed look at the design and construction of hygienic floors and drainage systems, the initiative highlights how each component plays a role in safeguarding food safety. Whether it's the structural aspects of floors, the functionality of drainage systems, or specific cleaning protocols, the event illustrates how every detail contributes to the overall integrity of hygiene systems.

Collaboration at the Core

The success of #HygieneConnect lies in its collaborative nature. As an ACO initiative, we invited a flooring company and a cleaning process company as a joint event to deliver a strong message in each market as an educational process.

In the case of Latin America, we have so far brought together ACO, Sika and Diversey - leaders in their respective fields of drainage solutions, building materials and cleaning technologies in the Latin American market.

The initiative showcases a united effort to advance hygiene standards in food production environments. This partnership underscores the importance of a multidisciplinary approach to solving complex hygiene challenges, ensuring that all aspects of safety and cleanliness are covered comprehensively.

As part of our ongoing commitment to ensuring the highest hygiene standards, we aim to have an independent consultant, most of which has been from The European Hygienic Engineering & Design Group (EHEDG) or experts from higher education institutions.

This ensures that all practices and procedures align with internationally recognized hygiene guidelines, further elevating the integrity of our discussions and demonstrations.

Building Expertise Across Latin America and Beyond

The #HygieneConnect event series, which began just a year ago, has already made significant strides, with successful sessions held across Latin America and Europe.

Looking ahead, #HygieneConnect plans to replicate these educational events in other Latin American countries and around the world, fostering a culture of hygiene and safety excellence in each region. By providing a space for discussion, seminars and hands-on demonstrations, the program is having a tangible impact on local markets and industries.

Thanks to Ivonne Cárdenas for this initiative and for making it happen.
